CURE Violence Albany
West Hill Center
Work with community and government partners to reduce violence in all forms and help design interventions required to better define what should be included in a community or city anti-violence plan.
Community members affected by violence.
Description of Program:
CURE Violence uses a public health approach to reduce not only the killings, but also the community’s acceptance of the violent conditions in which they live. Among the steps CURE Violence takes to do this are:
- Public education campaigns: shootings are not acceptable.
- Partnerships with community based organizations, faith leaders, service providers and police.
- Focus on individuals who are at high risk to create alternative paths to success.
