Family and Neighborhood Resource Center

 

Mission: 

 

To build community capacity, to provide assistance to community residents in developing needed resources and infrastructure; to deliver a variety of services and programs to support this mission.  

 

Population Served: 

 

Residents of the South End, Arbor Hill and West Hill as well as other residents of the Capital District.     

 

Eligibility:

 

There is no limiting eligibility for the FNRC.     

 

Referral Process: 

 

Each person who enters seeking services should complete a referral/registration form.  Our FNRC referral form is on the agency Web Site, at the front desk, within each program area and the FNRC office.  Referrals can be made by telephone to FNRC staff and walk-ins are always welcome.

Trinity Alliance, 15 Trinity Place, Albany, NY 12202 and Arbor Hill Center, 47 North Lark Street, Albany, NY 12210.    

 

Hours: 

 

8:30am-5pm M-F, with special programs operating in the evenings and on Saturdays; program calendar is on the website.    

 

Description of Program:

 

Serves as agency hub for delivery of services, coordinates activities of partner agencies, conducts community outreach, provides direct and referral services for walk-in consumers, assists agency programs to enhance service delivery, oversees financial literacy and employment programs, and oversees free income tax assistance (VITA) program.  

 

Expected Outcomes: 

 

Expanded service delivery capacity for the agency, increased community involvement in all facets of the agency operation, and improved community self-sufficiency.

SHARP: Settlement House Advocacy and Resource Program

SHARP is designed to offer case management, advocacy and assistance to those most in need in the community. The intent is to provide short term and ling term assistance in the form of individual case management, refer to external agencies, and Trinity programs, advocacy in the attainment of services, housing, health case  or similar immediate needs, employment and retention services; participants are offered assistance with day-to-day problems through case management, and removal of barriers to employment, job readiness training, resume preparation, job search assistance, and retention services through the employment component.

Participants are expected to move from immediate crisis needs to stabilization and positive life situation, which may include housing, employment, finical assistance (eg DSS), enrollment in school, substance abuse assistance, and ongoing maintenance of progress. Focus for adults is assistance obtain either part time or full time employment, increase living/coping skills, increase levels of self-sufficiency, maintain employment through retention support.
